How can I learn how to self-hypnotize? Anyone tips from people with experience? Its for my addiction.?

Ever since I tasted candy for the first time I was addicted. My parents didnt let me have a lot of candy, but ever since I was like 1 1/2 and had my first sweet candy, I became obsessed. I literally would go into friends apartments(our neihbors) and find their candy. This was in Europe in a less dangerous time. Anyways, I need to stop because I literally feel bad if I dont have candy, but I want to be healthier and limit my intake to one candy bar a day only. So can anyone give me any tips on how self-hypnosis can help? How do I start it and what do I do? Thanks!

hypnosis only works if you believe that it will work; it ‘s all mental. you should have someone else hypnotize you, because it can be difficult to do by yourself. good luck!

Borders sell lots of self hypnosis tapes and CD’s. Try the weight loss one. It has suggestions against sweets and junk food.

I would first try discipline. Monitor yourself. If you must have a way to stop, give yourself a good dose of negative reinforcement.

Make yourself really sick by eating a bunch of it, while you are throwing up (literally at the toilet) make yourself eat another one while your there.

OK that’s really extreme and I don’t really recommend it because you could cause yourself an eating disorder.

If you really want to self-hypnotise look up NLP on the Internet. Neural Linguistic Programing is a mild form of self hypnosis and can effect certain behavioral changes. But you must stick to it in order for it to work.

Here’s another idea: Write a list of ten reasons why you really want (I MEAN WANT TO) quit eating candy. The urge can really only last a mere 3 minutes for anyone anywhere — the same goes for smoking, drinking etc… Keep the list with you as a reference and pull it out and read it when you get the urge. This will remind you of the positive benefits of quitting the habit of whatever it is you “WANT” to quit.

I emphasize the word “want” because no one can successfully quit something that is bad for them until they really WANT to….

When you really want to, it will be easy…

    Good Luck

Consider what self-hypnosis implies. Audrey telling Audrey she can only have one candy bar a day. That is, Audrey 1 telling Audrey 2 she can only have one candy bar a day.

Can you identify more easily with Audrey 1 or Audrey 2?

The one is the commander and the other is the obeyer. Can you envision yourself fulfilling said commandment? Or do you wish you would just fulfill it automatically — unconsciously (“hypnosis” derives from the Greek word *hypnos*, meaning “sleep”).

Can you envision yourself giving and enforcing said commandment? I don’t think you want to hypnotize yourself; I think you want to *be* hypnotized!

You want someone else to tell you what to do, and then you want to do what you are told without any effort — automatically, unconsciously.

You ask others how to self-hypnotize. That is, you ask others to tell you to tell yourself what to do (eat less candy)! This suggests to me you identify more readily with the role of obeyer.

Well then! I tell you to find someone to tell you what to do. To tell you you can only have one candy bar a day.

Like a mantra he shall repeat it to you. You can’t eat any more candy bars, Audrey. I want you to be strong and healthy.

go to bookstore and buy some books about self hypnotize. But if you want to hypnotize any other persons, should check this out: http://learnhypnotize.com/

I’m not sure if it works on yourself using that book.
