Hypnotism tips please?

I want to learn how to hypnotize my friends (not like a proffessional for a living, just for fun). I’ve tried it using a few things i’ve picked up from watching it done before, but i’ve never gotten my friends to do any of the crazy stuff they do on TV or at county fairs. Does anybody have any tips? Anybody know the extent of what hypnotism can do?
