Okay, I’m 14-years-old and I’m going to write a novel (for funzies). So I was thinking about this plot line:

The thyme for this book will be emotion isolation (between Cora and the world), sexual tension (Cora and Jason) and the blurred line between good and evil (Mutants vs Agency).

Lonely 13-year-old Cora Hudgens discovers that she has the ability to produce electricity through her skin thus shocking anyone who touches her. At first she is excited about her new found power; she tries to use this ‘power’ for good and live up to her “superhero” fantasy. However, she soon discovers that she can only use the gift to harm people instead of help them. Thinking herself a freak, she runs away from home (she lives with her dad). She first meets Jason playing his guitar on the street for money, where she flips a coin in and he winks at her. At night Cora sets alight a small bonfire in an alley to keep herself warm using her electric touch. Just then she finds herself being shot at by a pair a shady men who happened to see her starting the fire with her touch. However, she escapes with the help of a boy called Jason West who she later befriends and then falls for.
Jason is a Clairvoyant; he can tell anything about a person/ place/ object just by smelling or tasting it. Cora refuses to share much about herself to Jason; she still cannot be sure to trust him. He is desperate to get close enough to kiss (“taste”) her so he can know everything, even though that if he does he will be shocked by her touch. He also helps Cora develop her power into full Pyrokinesis.
He tells her that the men that attacked them are part of a secret government agency specially trained in eliminating all people with telekinetic or telepathic abilities like Cora and Jason. The secret agency claim they are doing it to protect civilians and for the “greater good”, because these “mutants” are criminals (which is somewhat true, Jason is a petty thief) – but really they kill them to keep in power, as the “mutants” are the only people capable of overthrowing them. Jason leads Cora to an underground organization of fellow telepathic and telekinetic people where he promises she’ll be safe. Whilst they are traveling (by subway, they are the only two in the carriage)to get to this underground gang, they are again attacked by a telekinetic man from the Agency. However, they escape (although the train crashes) and decide it is safest if they continue the journey by foot. Once they get there she discovers that they have banded together in an attempt to destroy the government agency, and be free “permanently”. In the gang she befriends Lucy, a girl with the ability to heal anyone’s wound just with her touch. Lucy tells Cora about how The Agency have captured some more powerful mutants and hypnotized them to fight against them like the man on the train. She also learns from the leader, telepathic Owen, that her powers are “a level 5″ (very powerful) and that Jason was only bringing her here under his orders so that she could help defeat “The Agency” and thus she presumes that he does not feel the same love toward her that she feels toward him. So she runs away again, but comes back when she realizes that this is now her home and this way she can finally use her powers for a good cause….

I’ll stop there; if I decide to write it then I don’t want to give away the ending :]

It’s suppose to be for Young Adults by the way
    No sh!t Sherlock
I’ve actually never seen Jumper in my life! No joke. I also don’t read x-men comics, just so you guys know that I genuinely thought this was an original.

My hate for fathers extends as far back as I can remember, with my own father. I was supposed to have a good father at the very least. Except mine turned out to be a hippie, a womanizer, broke, and condescending. My mother and he separated when I was one. The next male figure in my life was my step dad, an abusive man whose relationship with my mother ended when he was whisked off to jail. Next came another abusive stepfather who ran off delusional and psychotic when my mother and he separated. Fathers are the scum of this earth, the disciplinarians, the superiors of mothers. Fathers serve no purpose other than creating us. They are here only to use us, abuse us.

Fathers, stepfathers, I hate them all. I hate the way they try to discipline you when they feel you are misbehaving. I hate the way they have so much power in the household. The way they say “Come here. Now.” and you are forced to obey. I hate the way they fight with mothers about the way you act, talk, and dress. Fathers, people who are hypnotizing to women who fall under their gaze and carefully plan how to take control. Mothers, weak codependent people who need someone to tell them what to do.

Fathers and stepfathers don’t know about girls. They believe we are inferior, things that do as they wish, listen to them, and respect their choices. But when fathers don ’t respect our existing relationships, when they don’t listen to us, when they attempt to control us, we don’t listen. It is easy to blank them out, pretend they aren’t there, but when they are yelling, screaming, they come back and it becomes a thousand times worse than the last time they broke their way into my thoughts.

It’s easy to bring out the coldness in fathers. It’s easy to make them mad enough to hit, kick, or bite. You can use that against them in arguments, because it’s proof they are out to get us. But then our argument turns around on us and we are blamed because our mothers side with the father or stepfather. Mothers say, “Why cant you make life easy, learn to obey your father, don’t speak out, don’t talk back…” We don’t because life can’t be easy with them in it. We will fight until one of us leaves. When we aren’t old enough to leave, life doesn’t matter anymore, and fighting becomes a habit, a normal part of the day.

I hate fathers because they cheat. I hate them because they are alcoholics, I hate them because they call their children and they tell them they love them, but they never come see us. Their words are empty, their voices blank as they attempt to assure themselves and you how much they love and miss you. A father’s words are meaningless; things to fill in the silence both of you know exists. They are liars and manipulators, they only want control, Fathers want to control you, see you suffer, see the tears running down your cheeks. Fathers laugh, they don’t care about your emotions or feelings.
It becomes a game, see how many times your mom cries, and your stepfather screams and says, “Now you’ve made your mom cry, look what you’ve done, don’t you feel bad?” I begin to cry too, but it is only an act to make him feel bad, another coping mechanism I have developed. Inside I hope she will realize it’s not me, it’s him.

I dream, I read, but the fathers I know don’t fit into the fairytales. They are not good-looking, loving, and they don’t sweep my mom off her feet and carry her into the sunset. They come into my house for one reason, control. Fathers want to control me, exercise their disciplinary powers, confirm their cruelness.

All fathers are pointless, designed to create and then disintegrate. All fathers are liars. All fathers don’t truly care about their children. Some fathers have extramarital affairs and tell their children they have a sister or two ten years later. Some fathers are alcoholics. Some fathers are womanizers. But all fathers are manipulative control freaks who like to use their superior power on girls like me.
    I’m not a troll.
I’m asking if you think my essay for one of my classes is good.
    That is not trolling.
